Write a letter to the parents about your earnest feelings
(Our customers attach the translation document of
their letter when giving it to the parents)
#2 ”Go Out for Dinner”
Have a dinner at
a place the parents like to eat or drink to spend an enjoyable time.
(You may be able
to prove your financial strength which may increase reliability if you took
care of the payment!)
#3 “Get Along with Other Family Members
One of our
customers successfully convinced her parents with third parties’ help by
visiting and introducing her fiancé to her grandparents’ house and interacting
with other relatives.
These are the 3
primary methods people use to convince their parents.
Extra Edition: It
may be a good idea to take pictures of the fiancé(e)’s family, pictures of the
fiancé(e)’s home town, and/or souvenirs when visiting the parents, as they
often feel an affinity to each other’s family through conversations when they
can relate to the topic via the items brought.
In addition, parents will feel at ease if the foreign fiancé(e) spoke even a little bit of Japanese. It may be good if you could remember small phrases such as “Hello, nice to meet you (Konnichiwa, hajimemashite),” “How are you? (Ogenki desuka?),” “It’s pleasure to meet you (Yoroshiku onegai shimasu),” etc.
